Verdict:Leave LastPass if the free plan's one-device-type limit is the problem, or if you simply want another vendor holding your vault. Bitwarden is the clear first choice: free with basic management and sharing with one other user, and Premium at $19.80 a year. KeePassXC suits people who want a local file and nothing in the cloud; it is GPLv3 on Windows, macOS and Linux, but you move the vault between devices yourself. Proton Pass gives a free plan with two vaults, unlimited devices and sharing with up to two people, which removes the single-device wall. Keeper's free family plan covers five members, handy for a household, though you should check its pricing page for individual prices. RoboForm keeps a free one-device plan and charges $2.49 a month billed annually for Premium. LastPass itself still has a free plan with unlimited storage and autofill on one device type, so check its pricing page for paid prices. The trade-off is migration effort. Export from LastPass as a file, import it, then delete the export; the file is unencrypted. Moving is worth it for a device-limit problem or a trust concern, but not if the free plan already does the job.

Good fit if

  • Your family needs one shared vault for five people (Keeper Password Manager is the pick)
  • You want the cheapest paid upgrade (RoboForm is the pick)

Not ideal if

  • You rely on LastPass features or integrations that these tools do not replicate

LastPass today: Free (Free plan limited to one device type (desktop or mobile), sharing of one password with one person, no emergency access, self-service support) (LastPass pricing, checked 2026-10-23).

Why people look for LastPass alternatives

LastPass Free is limited to one device type, computers or mobile but not both, and lets you share one password with one person at a time. Emergency access is not available on Free. Premium and Families, both billed annually, add all-device access, simultaneous sharing with multiple users and emergency access; dark web monitoring is included on every plan.
