Verdict:PandaDoc's free plan lets you create five documents a month with limited API access, then Starter is $19 per seat a month billed annually and Business is $49. The proposals, quotes and CRM links sit at the Business tier, so many small teams pay for e-signature alone. If that is you, there are cheaper ways out. Documenso, DocuSeal and OpenSign are all AGPL-3.0, so you can self-host and drop the per-seat fee; DocuSeal's open-source edition has unlimited signature request emails, though it uses a self-signed certificate and omits SMS and bulk send. SignWell and Zoho Sign are hosted: SignWell gives three free documents a month, and Zoho Sign starts at $10 per user a month annually. The trade-off is the proposal workflow. PandaDoc builds quotes with pricing tables, a content library and approvals, and none of the signing tools here replace that; you would pair them with a document editor or CRM template. Legal weight also deserves a check: confirm that signatures from a self-hosted tool meet the rules in your jurisdiction and customer contracts. Test an import of your PandaDoc templates first. If you send proposals weekly, stay; if you only need signatures, switch.

Good fit if

  • You only need signatures and can run a server (DocuSeal is the pick)
  • You want an open-source tool with a hosted free plan (Documenso is the pick)
  • You send few documents a month (SignWell is the pick)
  • Your company already uses Zoho (Zoho Sign is the pick)

Not ideal if

  • You rely on PandaDoc features or integrations that these tools do not replicate

PandaDoc today: Free (5 documents per month, limited API access); paid from $19 per seat/month, Starter, billed annually (PandaDoc pricing, checked 2026-10-22).

Why people look for PandaDoc alternatives

PandaDoc's free plan allows 5 documents a month with limited API access, so any steady sending needs a paid seat. Paid plans start at Starter, $19 per seat per month billed annually, and Business is $49 per seat, so the bill rises with every person who sends documents. Enterprise is quote-only. Teams that only need signatures can end up paying seat prices for a proposal and document workflow they do not use.
