Verdict:Leave HelloSign, now sold as Dropbox Sign, if you only send a handful of agreements and its $10.05 a month Essentials plan, billed yearly, feels like too much. People searching for HelloSign usually want one of three things: a free signing tool, a self-hosted one, or a cheaper paid plan. Documenso and OpenSign are the free-first answers: both open source, both self-hostable, and both with a hosted free plan. DocuSeal is the better pick if you build documents from templates and want unlimited requests on your own server. SignWell is a plain hosted option with a free plan of three documents a month. Zoho Sign suits companies already on Zoho, and PandaDoc is the one to try when you also send quotes and proposals. The trade-off is trust and paperwork. Dropbox Sign has been in use by many companies for years, and some clients expect a familiar signing page; self-hosted tools put the compliance and storage on you. Test signing and audit certificates on a real document, and check that your counterpart's email and signing flow works before you move over. Stay if you rely on its integrations.
