Verdict:Pictory's trial runs 14 days and gives 300 credits, about 10 minutes of generated video, three videos, a watermark and 720p export. Starter then costs $25 a month billed annually for 360 minutes a year, or $29 monthly for 30 minutes a month. Because it is a trial rather than a free plan, many people look for something that stays free. The right answer depends on what you used Pictory for. If you turned blog posts into videos with stock footage, no listed free tool does exactly that: you will edit by hand in Clipchamp, whose free plan exports 1080p without a watermark, or in Kdenlive, which is GPL-3.0 and fully free. Descript lets you edit by changing a transcript, with a free tier of 60 media minutes. Opus Clip does the opposite job, cutting short clips from long recordings, and HeyGen and Synthesia replace stock scenes with AI presenters, each with a watermarked free plan. The trade-off is time. Pictory's value is the automation from script to finished scenes, and the free alternatives either remove that step or change the style of the video. If you make a handful of videos a month, Clipchamp is the lowest-friction switch. If you make dozens, keep Pictory and compare the annual price.
