Verdict:Jotform's Starter plan is free but allows only 5 active forms and 100 submissions a month, and Bronze is $34 a month billed annually, which is a big step for someone who just needs a contact or sign-up form. If that describes you, Tally is the quickest fix: unlimited forms and submissions on the free plan within its fair-usage rules. Fillout is the pick when you also want integrations and a higher response cap, 1,000 a month on free. If your forms are surveys, Formbricks suits product feedback and can be self-hosted under AGPL-3.0, while LimeSurvey is stronger on long surveys with branching logic and also runs on your own server. Typeform is nicer to look at but its paid plan is costly for 100 responses. The main trade-off is breadth. Jotform has payment collection, PDF generation, approvals and many integrations in one product, and each alternative here covers only part of that. Before you move, list the forms with payments or file uploads, since those are the hardest to replicate. Embedding code must also change on your site, and old links will stop working unless you redirect them. For a small business with a few forms, Tally plus a spreadsheet covers most of the work, so try it first.

Good fit if

  • A simple free form with no caps (Tally is the pick)
  • More responses on a free plan (Fillout is the pick)
  • Product feedback surveys you can self-host (Formbricks is the pick)
  • Long branching surveys (LimeSurvey is the pick)
  • Polished one-question-at-a-time forms (Typeform is the pick)

Not ideal if

  • You rely on Jotform features or integrations that these tools do not replicate

Jotform today: Free (Starter plan with 5 active forms, 100 submissions a month and 100 MB of upload space); paid from $34 per month, billed annually (Bronze; $39 billed monthly) (Jotform pricing, checked 2026-10-22).

Why people look for Jotform alternatives

Jotform's free Starter plan allows 5 active forms and 100 submissions a month, with 100 MB of upload space, 500 stored submissions and Jotform branding. Bronze costs $39 a month, or $34 effective when billed yearly, for 25 forms and 1,000 submissions. HIPAA features appear only on Gold, at $129 monthly or $99 yearly. If storage runs over, the oldest responses may be removed.

Tally

Compared with Jotform: Tally's free plan has unlimited forms and submissions within fair usage, against Jotform Starter's 5 forms and 100 submissions a month. Pro is $24 a month; you lose Jotform's huge template and widget library.

Price: Free (Unlimited forms and submissions within Tally's fair usage guidelines); paid from $24 per month (Pro; yearly billing is advertised as 2 months off) (Tally pricing, checked 2026-10-22).

Platforms and license: Web. Proprietary.

Best for: Unlimited free forms.

Formbricks

Compared with Jotform: Formbricks core is AGPL-3.0 and self-hostable, with a Hobby plan of 250 responses a month. It is aimed at surveys and in-product feedback rather than Jotform's order and payment forms; Pro is $74 a month.

Price: Free (Hobby plan: 1 workspace and 250 responses a month); paid from $74 per month (Pro, 3 workspaces and 2,000 responses; annual billing gives 2 months free) (Formbricks pricing, checked 2026-10-22).

LimeSurvey

Compared with Jotform: LimeSurvey is GPL-2.0 or later and can be self-hosted as the Community Edition. It handles long, branching surveys better than Jotform, but looks dated, and cloud Expert starts at $36 a month billed annually.

Price: Free (Free package on LimeSurvey Cloud (see the pricing page for limits); Community Edition is self-hosted); paid from $36 per month, billed annually (Expert; Basic is $39 billed monthly) (LimeSurvey pricing, checked 2026-10-22).

Fillout

Compared with Jotform: Fillout's free plan allows unlimited forms and seats with 1,000 responses a month, ten times Jotform Starter's 100 submissions. Starter is $15 a month, below Jotform Bronze's $34, with fewer built-in widgets.

Price: Free (Unlimited forms, 1,000 responses a month and unlimited seats); paid from $15 per month (Starter, 2,000 responses; $180 billed annually) (Fillout pricing, checked 2026-10-22).

Platforms and license: Web. Proprietary.

Best for: Free forms with a higher response cap.

Typeform

Compared with Jotform: Typeform's free plan caps responses without stating a number, and Basic is $28 a month billed yearly for 100 responses. It gives one-question-at-a-time forms but costs less in features per dollar than Jotform.

Price: Free (Free plan with a limited number of responses a month; the page gives no count); paid from $28 per month, billed yearly (Basic, 100 responses a month, 1 user; $39 billed monthly) (Typeform pricing, checked 2026-10-22).

Platforms and license: Web, iOS, Android. Proprietary.

Best for: Conversational, good-looking forms.

SurveyMonkey

Compared with Jotform: Better suited to surveys than general forms. It has a free Basic plan, but Team Advantage is $30 per user a month with a three-user minimum, so it costs more than Jotform Bronze for form-style work.

Price: Free (Basic plan shows only a limited number of responses per survey); paid from $30 per user/month, Team Advantage, minimum 3 users, billed annually (SurveyMonkey pricing, checked 2026-10-22).

Formstack Forms

Compared with Jotform: No free plan, only a 14-day trial. Forms starts at $83 a month billed annually for 1 builder user, 25 forms and 1,000 submissions per form, roughly double Jotform's Bronze price, aimed at business workflows.
