Verdict:Leave Harvest when you need more than one free seat, or when you want time tracking without invoicing. Harvest's free plan covers one seat and two projects, and paid plans start at $9 per user per month billed annually. Toggl Track has a free plan for up to three users, and its Starter tier is $9 per user per month on annual billing. Clockify is the free choice for small teams: unlimited time tracking and reports on the free plan, with paid tiers from $3.99 per user per month billed annually. Everhour suits teams whose work lives in project tools, with a free plan for up to five seats and Team at $8.50 per seat billed yearly. Kimai is the self-hosted option under AGPL 3; no hosted price is listed, so you pay only for your server. Hubstaff has no free plan, costs $10 per seat per month on the Team plan, and adds activity monitoring, which fits managed workforces more than freelancers. The trade-off is invoicing. Harvest bundles time tracking with invoices and expenses, so moving away means building or buying an invoicing tool too. If you invoice clients from Harvest, price that separately before switching. If you only need timers and reports, Clockify or Toggl will cost you nothing at small team sizes.

Why people look for Harvest alternatives

Harvest's Free plan is limited to 1 seat and 2 projects. Teams, at $9 per seat per month billed annually ($11 monthly), unlocks unlimited seats, team reporting and billable and cost rates.
