Verdict:GoDaddy bundles domains, hosting, a website builder and email, which is convenient but also why people leave: separate services each renew at their own price. GoDaddy's own site blocked our fetch, so we have no verified GoDaddy price here; third-party reviews quote its builder in the $10 to $21 per month range, unconfirmed. Decide which GoDaddy product you actually use. If it is mainly DNS, Cloudflare's free plan handles DNS, CDN and DDoS protection at no cost, and you can keep the domain registered where it is until renewal. If it is a small static site or portfolio, Netlify's free plan removes the hosting bill, though you will be working with Git rather than a visual builder. If you want a hosted WordPress blog, WordPress.com has a free plan with a subdomain and paid plans from $2.75 a month on a three-year term. For classic shared hosting, Hostinger, Bluehost and SiteGround all advertise low introductory prices, and all renew higher, so read the renewal figure before paying a multi-year term upfront. The trade-off is that leaving means moving several pieces: domain transfer, DNS records, email mailboxes and site files. Start with DNS and email export so nothing goes dark. None of these were tested here.

Why people look for GoDaddy alternatives

GoDaddy shows each domain's renewal price separately in the Domain Portfolio, and that price covers a one-year registration without add-ons such as Domain Protection or Premium DNS. With auto-renew on, the payment method on file is charged automatically to renew the domain, and renewals are cancelled from the Renewals and Billing page. Comparing the yearly cost therefore means checking the renewal column and each add-on in the account, not one headline figure.

Cloudflare

Compared with GoDaddy: Cloudflare's free plan covers DNS, CDN and DDoS protection, so you can move DNS off GoDaddy at no cost. It is not a website builder or shared host, so you replace only the domain and DNS layer.

Price: Free (Free plan: DNS, unmetered DDoS protection, CDN, universal SSL, WAF managed ruleset); paid from $20 per month, billed annually (Pro; $25 billed monthly) (Cloudflare pricing, checked 2026-10-22).

Platforms and license: Web. Proprietary.

Best for: Moving DNS and security away from GoDaddy.

Worth knowing: Business plan is $200/month billed annually ($250 monthly). Free plan has community support only and no uptime SLA.

Netlify

Compared with GoDaddy: Free plan with 300 credits a month for static sites and front-end apps. You lose GoDaddy's drag-and-drop builder and email add-ons, but get Git-based deploys with no hosting fee at low traffic.

Price: Free (Free plan: 300 credits per month); paid from $9 per month (Personal, 1,000 credits) (Netlify pricing, checked 2026-10-22).

Platforms and license: Web. Proprietary.

Best for: Developers hosting static sites.

Worth knowing: Bandwidth is charged at 20 credits per GB.

WordPress.com

Compared with GoDaddy: Free plan gives 1 GB storage on a WordPress.com subdomain, with ads and no plugins. A custom domain needs a paid plan from about $2.75 a month on a 3-year term, similar territory to GoDaddy's builder.

Price: Free (Free plan: 1 GB storage, WordPress.com subdomain only, no plugin installation, WordPress.com ads shown); paid from $2.75 per month, billed every 3 years (Personal) (WordPress.com pricing, checked 2026-10-22).

Platforms and license: Web. Proprietary hosted service.

Best for: Bloggers who want managed WordPress.

Worth knowing: The free plan has no custom domain.

Hostinger

Compared with GoDaddy: Shared hosting from $2.49 a month on a 48-month term, renewing at $10.99. It offers a comparable one-stop host, but the low price needs a long commitment, so compare the renewal rate with GoDaddy's.

Price: Paid from $2.49 per month on a 48-month term (Premium, $119.52 upfront) (Hostinger pricing, checked 2026-10-22).

Platforms and license: Web, Cloud. Proprietary.

Best for: Budget shared hosting with a long term.

Worth knowing: Renews at $10.99 per month. 30-day money-back guarantee.

SiteGround

Compared with GoDaddy: Managed shared WordPress hosting from an introductory $2.99 a month, renewing at $17.99 prepaid for 12 months. It costs more at renewal than GoDaddy's entry plans but is focused on WordPress performance.

Price: Paid from $2.99 per month, introductory price (StartUp) (SiteGround pricing, checked 2026-10-22).

Platforms and license: Web, Cloud. Proprietary.

Best for: WordPress sites that need managed hosting.

Worth knowing: StartUp renews at $17.99 per month prepaid for 12 months and includes 10 GB storage for 1 website.

Bluehost

Compared with GoDaddy: Starter shared hosting at $3.99 a month on a 36-month intro term, renewing at $9.99. A direct competitor for domains plus hosting, with the same pattern of low first-term pricing.

Price: Paid from $3.99 per month, Starter shared plan on a 36-month intro term (renews at $9.99 per month) (Bluehost pricing, checked 2026-10-23).

Platforms and license: Web browser. Proprietary.

Best for: Beginners wanting domain plus hosting.

Shopify

Compared with GoDaddy: Basic is $29 per month billed yearly ($39 monthly), with a 3-day trial and then $1 per month for 3 months. Online card rates on Basic are 2.9% + 30 cents, so it fits stores rather than plain site hosting.

Price: Paid from $29 per month, billed yearly (Basic; $39 billed monthly) (Shopify pricing, checked 2026-10-22).
