Verdict:WP Engine suits agencies and businesses that want managed WordPress with staging, backups and support handled for them. Leave it when the site is small, the traffic is modest, or you already run your own servers and do not need a managed layer. Its Essential plan is $28 a month billed annually, which is a lot for a brochure site. Hostinger and SiteGround are the cheapest moves: both quote a low introductory monthly price on shared hosting, and both suit a single small site that does not need enterprise-grade support. Cloudways is the middle path, a managed service on a cloud you choose, where you pay more for control and size the server yourself. WordPress.com's free plan is only a test bench, since it blocks custom domains and plugins on the free tier, so it is not a real replacement until you pay for a higher plan. Coolify is the free route for a technical operator who already has a VPS. It is free and open source, so the platform costs nothing, but patching the server and backing up the database become your job. The trade-off is consistent: the cheaper hosts lower the monthly bill and give up managed staging and support, and the self-hosted route removes the bill and adds the operations work.
