A free prototyping tool lets you link screens into a clickable flow before anyone writes code, and the free plans are tight enough that the limits decide the choice. Figma's Starter plan is $0 with unlimited drafts and is the default for most teams. Penpot is open source, and its Professional plan is $0 for up to 8 team members with unlimited viewers, which makes it the pick if you want open standards or to self-host. Uizard offers a free plan of 2 projects with up to 5 screens each and 3 AI generations a month. Justinmind's free plan allows 1 project with unlimited screens and viewers and it runs as desktop software as well as in the browser. Moqups gives 2 projects and 400 objects per project on one seat. Framer's free plan is $0 and suits prototypes that you may later publish as a website. When you compare, count three things: projects, screens per project, and collaborators. A free plan that caps screens at five suits a single flow but not a full app. Also test sharing, because viewers who need an account slow reviews. The trade-off is ecosystem against openness: Figma has the biggest plugin and community, while Penpot gives open-source freedom with a smaller ecosystem. Six options follow.
Starter plan is $0 with unlimited drafts and limited access to Figma products. Largest plugin community; the paid step starts at $16.
