Verdict:Wrike's free plan exists but gives no numbers on its pricing page, and the Team plan is $10 per user per month billed annually for 2 to 15 users, so a small team pays quickly once it needs more than basic boards. Leave Wrike if your team is under about 15 people and uses it mainly for tasks and boards, because Trello at $5 or ClickUp's free tier covers that for less. If you want to self-host and avoid per-seat fees, OpenProject is the closest in spirit to Wrike's project-planning side: it has Gantt-style scheduling in a Community edition, though its paid plans have a 25-user minimum. Plane suits teams who think in issues and sprints rather than projects and requests. The real trade-off is reporting and approvals. Wrike's strength is the enterprise layer, with request intake, workload views and proofing, and none of the free or open-source options reproduce all of it. WeKan is the cheapest and simplest but it is only boards. Before moving, export your folders and tasks and check how each tool handles custom fields, because that is where migrations from Wrike usually leave gaps. If you are a large marketing or agency team that depends on proofing, staying put may cost less than rebuilding the workflow.

Why people look for Wrike alternatives

Wrike's Free plan has board and table views only; interactive Gantt charts start at Team, $10 per user per month for 2 to 15 users. Whiteboards cost $15 per user per month as an add-on. Seats are sold in groups of 5, 10 or 25 depending on the count.
