Verdict:StackBlitz's Personal plan includes unlimited public projects and GitHub repositories. The limit that pushes people away is that working in a repository owned by a GitHub organization needs the Teams plan, and Teams is priced separately, with Enterprise by quote. The nearest alternative for building real projects in a browser is CodeSandbox, so check its free allowance and Pro price directly. CodePen and JSFiddle are better when the thing you want is a demo or a small piece of code to share rather than a project with dependencies. PlayCode has a free plan with private projects, and Pro costs $25 per month, which is where its published apps and custom domains start. Bolt.new takes a different approach: it builds an app from a prompt, with a free plan that has daily token limits. Replit is a full cloud development environment with Core at $18 per month billed annually. The trade-off to weigh is how much of your work depends on StackBlitz's in-browser runtime. Another tool may run your project differently, so test your own repository before committing. Stay if your public work fits the free plan. Leave if your team works in organization repos and you do not want to pay for Teams.

StackBlitz today: Free (Personal plan includes unlimited public StackBlitz projects and GitHub repositories; collaborating on repositories owned by a GitHub organization needs Teams) (StackBlitz pricing, checked 2026-10-22).
StackBlitz's free Personal plan covers unlimited public projects and GitHub repositories only. Reaching private repositories means upgrading the member to a paid seat. Teams accounts are created from a GitHub organization and suit small to medium groups, where paid members get private collections and repositories. Larger organizations have to contact sales about Enterprise plans, so there is no published number to budget against for a growing team.
