Verdict:Morningstar is mostly a research and ratings product, so the right replacement depends on what you pay it for. Check Morningstar's checkout page for the current Investor price before comparing. If you pay mainly for Morningstar Ratings on stocks, Yahoo Finance Silver at $19.95 a month on yearly billing includes them, which cuts a duplicate bill. If you want to look at statements and valuation numbers yourself, StockAnalysis at $8.25 a month on annual billing or TIKR's free plan with 5 years of US financials do the job at lower cost. Koyfin is the pick when you want dashboards and a screen workspace; its free plan is limited to 2 years of financials, and Plus is $39 a month. Finviz and Google Finance are free utilities for screening and watchlists, not research. The trade-off is clear: none of these replace Morningstar's fund analysis and independent ratings, so do not assume any of them provides fund reports. Leave Morningstar if you are an individual stock picker paying for tools you rarely open. Stay if fund ratings and analyst research drive your decisions, or compare your current plan against the Yahoo Finance bundle first.
