A stock screener filters thousands of listed companies by the numbers you choose, such as market cap, valuation ratios, growth or dividend yield. Free screeners differ in three ways that decide how useful they are: how many filters they allow, how old the data is, and how much history sits behind each metric. Finviz is the quickest for a visual scan and delivers delayed quotes. TradingView lists hundreds of filter fields and is strongest if you also chart. Yahoo Finance and StockAnalysis.com offer free screens without an account, and StockAnalysis has predefined popular screens for quick starts. Koyfin and TIKR give deeper financials but cap what free users can save: Koyfin allows two screens, and TIKR's pricing page appears to allow one saved screen. None of this is investment advice, and a screen only produces a list to research, not a recommendation. Check whether the market you care about is covered, because several tools are US-only on the free tier. A good test is to rebuild a screen you already know, say profitable companies under a set valuation, and see whether results match a source you trust. If the free tier cannot save your screen, note the filters somewhere else.
