Claude alternatives: ChatGPT, Gemini app, Le Chat, Microsoft Copilot and 2 more. Prices and licenses checked October 25, 2026.

Verdict:Claude's Free plan exists but limits how much you can do, Pro is $20 a month ($17 billed annually), and Max starts at $100. People look for alternatives because of usage caps, price or a missing feature, not because the answers are poor. If you want another polished chat assistant with a free tier, ChatGPT and the Gemini app are the obvious comparisons; Gemini wins when your life is in Google Docs and Gmail, and its Plus tier at $4.99 is the cheapest paid step. Le Chat is the cheaper paid choice at $14.99 and a decent EU-based option. Copilot makes sense mainly if you already pay for Microsoft 365, since it comes with Word and Excel. If the real goal is zero cost or privacy, Ollama runs open models on your own computer with no usage cap, but the models you can run locally are weaker than hosted ones and need a decent machine. Be realistic about quality: no alternative here is a drop-in for Claude on long documents and careful coding, so test your own prompts on two candidates before you cancel anything. Your saved chats and projects do not move between services, so export what matters first. For coding agents specifically, a different set of tools applies, and a comparison of those belongs on a page of its own.
