Verdict:BILL charges per user, from $49 a month on AP & AR Essentials to $89 at Corporate, and its Spend & Expense product is free to use. If you are the only person approving and paying vendor bills, that per-seat price is the first thing to question. Melio Go is a $0 plan with five free ACH payments a month and a single user, which fits an owner who pays a few suppliers; the moment you need two people in the account or more than five ACH payments, you are looking at its Core plan at $25 a month. Ramp's free plan suits a team that wants cards and bills in one system, provided your books live in QuickBooks Online or Xero, because those are the only integrations listed for it. Zoho Books is the pick when you want your ledger and bills in one place and your revenue stays under $50K. Brex and Mercury fold payments into banking, so the savings come from fewer subscriptions but you should read their fee schedules. What you lose versus BILL is depth: custom approval policies, two-way syncing with larger ERPs, and three-way matching sit in BILL's higher tiers. If your payables process has several approvers or a purchase-order flow, a free tool will feel thin quickly. Per-payment fees for checks, instant transfers and international payments exist on both sides, so compare your actual payment mix, not just the plan price.

BILL today: Free (Only the Spend & Expense plan is $0; AP & AR plans are paid); paid from $49 per user/month (AP & AR Essentials) (BILL pricing, checked 2026-10-22).
BILL charges per user each month: Essentials is $49, Team $65 and Corporate $89, with Enterprise on request. Essentials only imports and exports CSVs to accounting software; the automatic two-way sync with QuickBooks Online and Xero starts at Team. Payment fees come on top, including $0.59 per ACH payment, $1.99 per check, 1.0% for instant payments and $19.99 per international USD wire. Procurement is an add-on for Essentials and Team, so total cost rises with each approver.
