Verdict:Jasper is the most expensive option on this list at $59 per seat a month billed yearly, and it has no free plan, only a 7-day trial of Pro. Leave it when you pay for seats you rarely use, or when you need a tool that edits existing text rather than generating copy from a brief. For a free start, ChatGPT's Free plan at $0 a month or Claude's Free plan covers ad hoc drafting, though neither gives you a per-seat team workspace. Writesonic is a like-for-like swap: its Starter plan lists at $79 a month billed annually, so it saves nothing and only makes sense if you already like its interface. Grammarly and Wordtune solve a different problem. Grammarly's free plan checks grammar and tone in any text box, and Wordtune's Basic plan gives 10 rewrites a day, so both suit polishing a draft you wrote yourself. The trade-off is simple. Pay Jasper's seat price only if a team generates volume copy every week. Otherwise a free chat assistant plus a grammar tool costs nothing and covers most solo work.

Jasper today: Paid from $59 per seat/month, billed annually (Pro, 1 seat; $69 billed monthly) (Jasper pricing, checked 2026-10-23).

Why people look for Jasper alternatives

Jasper has no free plan, only a 7-day trial of Pro, which is $59 per seat a month on a 12-month annual commitment or $69 billed monthly. Pro includes 1 seat, 2 brand voices and 5 knowledge assets. Custom agents, Jasper Studio, API access, SSO and role-based permissions are Business only, and Business pricing is custom with a 12-month minimum. The page publishes no price for extra Pro seats and tells you to contact sales.

Writesonic

Compared with Jasper: Starter lists at $79 a month billed annually, against Jasper Pro at $59 per seat billed yearly. Both are paid AI writing suites with no free plan, so the saving is small and you choose on output quality.

ChatGPT

Compared with Jasper: ChatGPT's Free plan costs $0 a month, against Jasper Pro at $59 per seat. You give up Jasper's per-seat workspace for a general chat tool, but you stop paying for a seat for ad hoc drafting.

Claude

Compared with Jasper: Claude's Free plan is $0, and Pro lists at $17 a month billed annually, well under Jasper Pro's per-seat price. You get a general-purpose assistant rather than a copy-focused app, so each prompt is written by you.

Platforms and license: Web, iOS, Android, macOS, Windows. Proprietary.

Platforms and license: Web, Browser extension. Proprietary.

Best for: Tightening sentences in drafts you wrote.

Grammarly

Compared with Jasper: The free plan covers spelling, grammar, tone suggestions and 100 AI prompts, and Pro lists at $12 a month. It polishes text you wrote; Jasper produces new copy from a brief, so Grammarly is an editor rather than a generator.

Rytr

Compared with Jasper: Free allows 10,000 characters a month; Lite at $9 removes the cap and Personal is $19. Far cheaper than Jasper Pro's $59 per seat, and plans scale with linked sources and active relationships rather than seats.

Price: Free (10,000 characters per month, one linked source, 25 active relationships); paid from $9 per month (Lite; Personal $19, Pro $49; yearly billing saves 20%) (Rytr pricing, checked 2026-10-25).
