Verdict:Sentry's Developer plan covers one user and 5,000 errors a month, and the Team plan is $29 a month billed monthly or $26 billed annually. The code is under the Functional Source License rather than an OSI open-source license, which matters if ”open source” is a requirement for you. The easiest way out is GlitchTip. It is MIT licensed, self-hostable and compatible with Sentry's client SDKs per its site, so moving is mostly a matter of changing the DSN. It lists error tracking, performance, uptime and logs, but does not mention session replay. If you already want logs, metrics and traces in one place, SigNoz is an OpenTelemetry platform whose exception view only has stack traces when your SDK records them, so test that with your own language first. Better Stack advertises Sentry SDK compatibility with per-event pricing, and Rollbar offers a similar free quota with its own SDKs. New Relic's 100 GB free tier is generous, but it comes with a much larger product and an account model built around full-platform users. The trade-off is operations: self-hosting an error tracker means disks, upgrades and backups, and a quiet outage means errors you never saw. If your volume is small, the hosted free tiers are safer than a server you forget about. Run the alternative alongside Sentry for a week and compare what each one catches.
| Tool | Price | Platforms | Best for | Tested |

| SigNoz | Free (self-hosted Community Edition; cloud shows no free allowance); paid from $49 per month incl. $49 of usage (Cloud Teams) | Web, Self-hosted, SigNoz Cloud | Error tracking inside OpenTelemetry observability | Docs only |
| Better Stack | Free (10 monitors and heartbeats, 1 status page); paid from $29 per responder license/month, billed yearly ($34 monthly) | Web, iOS, Android | Switching without re-instrumenting your code | Docs only |
| New Relic | Free (100 GB data ingest per month, 1 full platform user); paid from $0.4 per GB ingested beyond the free 100 GB (Standard) | Web | Teams that also want APM and infrastructure data | Docs only |
| Rollbar | Free (Free plan: 5,000 occurrences per month and 1,000 replays per month) | Web (SaaS) | Hosted error tracking with a similar free quota | Docs only |

Sentry today: Free (Developer plan: 1 user, 5k errors, 5 GB logs, 5 GB application metrics, 5M tracing spans, 50 session replays); paid from $29 per month, billed monthly (Team; $26 billed annually) (Sentry pricing, checked 2026-10-22).
Sentry's free Developer plan is limited to 1 user, 5k errors, a 30-day lookback and email alerts only, with no API or third-party integrations and no SSO. Team is $29 per month ($26 annual) with 50k errors and Google and GitHub SSO; SAML and SCIM, unlimited dashboards and anomaly detection need Business at $89 ($80 annual). Logs and application metrics beyond the included 5 GB each are billed at $0.50 per GB, and the Seer AI add-on is paid separately. Self-hosting is under the Functional Source License, which is not an OSI open-source license.
Compared with Sentry: GlitchTip is MIT-licensed and can be self-hosted, with a hosted free tier of 1,000 events a month and a $15 plan for 100k events. It lists error tracking, performance, uptime and logs, and its site does not mention session replay, which Sentry offers.
Price: Free (Hosted free tier: up to 1,000 events per month; self-hosting is available); paid from $15 per month (Small, 100k events) (GlitchTip pricing, checked 2026-10-22).
Platforms and license: Web (SaaS), Self-hosted. MIT (open source).
Best for: Self-hosted error tracking on a small server.
Worth knowing: Non-profits and open-source projects can get plans from $5 per month by contacting support.
Compared with Sentry: SigNoz Community Edition is self-hosted and MIT-licensed, with exceptions stored from OpenTelemetry span events. Unlike Sentry it is a full observability platform for logs, traces and metrics, but stack traces appear only if your SDK records them.
Price: Free (self-hosted Community Edition; cloud shows no free allowance); paid from $49 per month incl. $49 of usage (Cloud Teams) (SigNoz pricing, checked 2026-10-22).
Platforms and license: Web, Self-hosted, SigNoz Cloud. MIT (ee/ directory under a separate license) (open source).
Project activity: 32.5k GitHub stars · latest release v0.147.0 (Oct 22, 2026) · last commit Oct 27, 2026
Best for: Error tracking inside OpenTelemetry observability.
Worth knowing: Cloud usage: logs and traces $0.30/GB, metrics $0.10 per million samples.
Compared with Sentry: Better Stack's error tracking is Sentry-compatible, so you keep your existing Sentry SDK and change the destination. It bills per event rather than by plan tier, and its free allowance for errors was not shown, so the cost depends on volume.
Price: Free (10 monitors and heartbeats, 1 status page); paid from $29 per responder license/month, billed yearly ($34 monthly) (Better Stack pricing, checked 2026-10-22).
Platforms and license: Web, iOS, Android. Proprietary SaaS.
Best for: Switching without re-instrumenting your code.
Worth knowing: Team members who only view are $0; on-call scheduling is tied to responder licenses.
Compared with Sentry: New Relic's free tier includes 100 GB of data ingest a month and one full platform user. Its errors inbox groups errors by fingerprint with stack traces, but it comes inside a heavier APM product than Sentry, and extra full users cost money.
Price: Free (100 GB data ingest per month, 1 full platform user); paid from $0.4 per GB ingested beyond the free 100 GB (Standard) (New Relic pricing, checked 2026-10-22).
Platforms and license: Web. Proprietary SaaS.
Best for: Teams that also want APM and infrastructure data.
Worth knowing: Full platform users cost extra: $10 for the first on Standard, $99 for each additional (max 5).
Compared with Sentry: Rollbar's free plan includes 5,000 occurrences and 1,000 replays a month, against Sentry Developer's 5k errors and 50 replays for one user. The paid Essentials price was not a visible number on the page, so check cost before upgrading.
Price: Free (Free plan: 5,000 occurrences per month and 1,000 replays per month) (Rollbar pricing, checked 2026-10-22).
Platforms and license: Web (SaaS). Proprietary.
Best for: Hosted error tracking with a similar free quota.
Compared with Sentry: The free plan covers up to 5 hosts with 1-day metric retention, and Infrastructure Pro is $15 per host per month billed annually. Logs and APM are priced separately, so full monitoring costs more than error tracking alone.
Price: Free (up to 5 hosts, 1-day metric retention); paid from $15 per host/month, billed annually (Infrastructure Pro; $18 on demand) (Datadog pricing, checked 2026-10-22).
