Verdict:Leave RoomSketcher if you only need a rough room layout and balk at paying for it. Its pricing page lists a free plan with one user, a 10-project archive, a limited furniture library, watermarked 3D snapshots and no measurements or print-to-scale. Pro is $12 a month billed annually, or $24 monthly. Sweet Home 3D is the best free swap for a desktop user: GPL-licensed, runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, and draws a plan with 3D walkthroughs, though a third-party review says it lacks curved walls and advanced lighting. Floorplanner is the browser pick, with a free Basic plan that limits each project to one floor and exports a watermarked image. Planner 5D suits room decoration, with unlimited free projects and half of its furniture catalog. SketchUp is the paid choice when you need custom geometry instead of a floor plan tool, with a Go plan at $10.75 a month. Draw.io only does flat 2D layouts. The trade-off is polish: RoomSketcher produces client-ready 2D and 3D images quickly, and the free tools make you work harder for a presentable result. A real estate agent or home stager selling plans should keep a paid tool. A homeowner planning a remodel can use Sweet Home 3D.
