Verdict:Leave Motion if you are paying $19 a seat for an auto-scheduler and mostly use it as a task list with a calendar. Motion's pricing page shows Pro AI at $19 and Business AI at $29 per seat, with a trial of unstated length and no free plan, so every user costs money from day one. That is hard to justify for one person with a short to-do list. The cheapest step down is Todoist or Super Productivity: both are free, and you schedule the day yourself. If your pain is protecting focus time around meetings, Reclaim's free Lite plan connects two calendars and its paid Starter seat is $10 on yearly billing. Sunsama and Morgen both cost less than Motion on a yearly plan and keep a calendar beside the task list, but neither has a free plan, only a 14-day trial. A team that wants shared boards without per-seat fees can self-host Vikunja. The trade-off is automation. Motion decides where your tasks go and replans when meetings move; every alternative here asks you to do more of that by hand, or does it only for calendar time rather than full projects. Stay if the automatic replanning saves you real hours each week. Move if you mostly drag tasks around yourself anyway.

Why people look for Motion alternatives

Motion offers no free plan, only a free trial of unstated length. Pro AI is $19 per seat per month and Business AI is $29, with annual billing advertised as a 33% saving. Each seat gets a credit allowance: 7,500 AI credits on Pro AI and 15,000 on Business AI. Team capacity planning, Gantt timelines, time tracking and permissions are gated to the Business AI plan.
