Verdict:JFrog's pricing page lists SaaS Pro at $50 per month as a limited-time offer, with $150 per month shown as the regular price and 25 GB of base consumption, and the self-managed Pro X plan starts at $27,000 per year. No free plan is listed. That is a lot for a team whose artifact needs are a few Docker images and an npm registry. The closest swap is Sonatype Nexus Repository Community Edition: it is free to self-host, but Sonatype caps it at 40,000 components or 100,000 requests a day, and once you pass either limit you cannot add new components until usage drops or you upgrade. If your pipeline mostly pushes container images to Kubernetes, Harbor is the cleaner choice, since it is Apache-2.0 with no cap, though it will not hold Maven or npm packages. If you already run Gitea, GitLab or GitHub, their built-in registries remove one server from your stack, at the cost of Artifactory's remote-repository caching depth, replication and fine-grained promotion rules. The trade-off is operations: every self-hosted option makes you own backups, storage growth and upgrades, which a SaaS plan handles for you. Stay on Artifactory if you manage many package formats across several sites or need its replication; otherwise start by measuring how many components and requests you really use. None of these tools were tested here, so trial a migration of one repository first.

JFrog Artifactory today: Paid from $50 per month, SaaS Pro (shown as a limited-time offer; the page lists $150 per month as the regular price; 25 GB base consumption) (JFrog Artifactory pricing, checked 2026-10-22).
JFrog's SaaS plans are priced on consumption, and storage and data transfer both count toward it. Pro lists $50 per month as a limited-time offer against a regular $150, including 25 GB; past that, usage is $1.25 per GB. Enterprise X starts at $950 per month with 125 GB, and no free tier is described on the pricing page. Self-managed starts at $27,000 per year for Pro X on one server. Support tiers and 99.99% uptime are paid add-ons.
Compared with JFrog Artifactory: The nearest like-for-like: a self-hosted repository manager. Community Edition is free but capped at 40,000 components or 100,000 requests per day, and you lose JFrog's hosted SaaS option and wider platform tooling.

Best for: Teams that want a self-hosted Artifactory-style server for free.
Compared with JFrog Artifactory: Apache-2.0 registry from the CNCF for container images and Helm charts. It only replaces the Docker side of Artifactory, not Maven, npm or PyPI repositories, but it has no usage cap and no license fee.
