Verdict:Grasshopper advertises plans starting at $14 a month, with annual billing saving over 20% and a 7-day free trial with no credit card. Its pitch is unlimited calls and texts and unlimited users on one shared business number, with extra extensions at $3 a month and extra numbers at $9. Check the pricing page for exactly what the $14 plan includes. If the shared-number model suits you, there is little to gain on price: Quo and Dialpad both start at $15 per user, and Ooma at $19.95. The reasons to leave are different. If you want each person to have their own line and a shared inbox, Quo is built that way. If you want handsets, Ooma has them. If you only need a second number for yourself, Google Voice is free on its personal plan, though it needs an existing mobile number. And if you have someone who can administer a server, FreePBX and Asterisk have no license fee but put security and uptime on you. The trade-off is simplicity: Grasshopper is quick to set up, and the free tools are not. Check number porting and whether your voicemail and greeting settings export before you cancel.

Why people look for Grasshopper alternatives

Grasshopper plans start at $14 per month with unlimited calls, texts and users. Extra extensions are $3 per month each and extra phone numbers are $9 per month each, so a team that needs several lines pays more than the headline price. The homepage does not say how many numbers or extensions each plan includes, and the trial lasts 7 days.
