Verdict:Leave FullStory if you need session replay but cannot justify a sales-led contract. Its free tier is generous enough to test, with 30,000 sessions a month, but once you need more volume or sign up for a paid plan, the price is quoted only on request, so budget conversations start late. Microsoft Clarity is the cost-free choice for replay and heatmaps: no traffic limits, but you get less for finding patterns across sessions. Hotjar's free plan is a good middle step if your work is mainly heatmaps and quick recordings; its Growth plan starts at $39 a month billed yearly, which is a predictable number to plan around. OpenReplay suits teams whose data must stay on their own servers, but it needs someone who will maintain the server. PostHog is the right pick when replay has to sit beside product analytics and feature flags, since one tool replaces two. LogRocket fits engineering teams chasing front-end errors, and its starting price of $176 a month on annual billing is a real cost. Stay with FullStory if your team already uses its search and funnels every day; switching costs time.
