Verdict:Meta Business Suite is the official tool for Facebook Pages and Instagram: it is described as free, covering scheduling, an inbox and insights; confirm current terms on Meta's site. Leave it if you post to more networks than Facebook and Instagram or need reports that cover them together. Buffer's free plan gives 3 channels and 10 scheduled posts per channel, a quick way to schedule across networks. Metricool's free plan adds 30 days of analytics for one brand. Publer is the cheap step up, at $4 a month billed yearly for Professional. If you want your own server, Postiz is AGPL-3.0 and Mixpost Lite is MIT and free. Later and Hootsuite have no free plan, so they only make sense if you need their specific features and a budget: Hootsuite starts at $99 a user a month on Standard. The trade-off is native access against breadth. Meta's tool reaches Facebook and Instagram features, like the unified inbox, that third-party schedulers may only partly cover. A tool such as Buffer handles more networks but works through each platform's API limits. Stay with Meta Business Suite if you only manage Facebook and Instagram.
