Verdict:Front lists three plans, Starter at $25 per seat monthly on annual billing, Professional at $65 and Enterprise at $105, with no free plan, only a 14-day trial. The price and seat count rise quickly for a support team, which is the usual reason people look around. The cheapest route is a self-hosted shared inbox. FreeScout is the closest in spirit: an email-first inbox with assignments and internal notes, free to run on your own server. Libredesk is newer and adds chat and WhatsApp to the same inbox, and Chatwoot goes further on channels. If you do not want to run a server, Help Scout's free tier for 5 users is a practical starting point, and Zammad's hosted plan at $7 per agent undercuts Front by a wide margin. What you give up is Front's collaboration layer: shared drafts, comment threads on conversations and the polish of its rules. Self-hosted tools cover assignment and notes but the finish is rougher, and we did not test them against Front's rules engine. Another cost is time, since someone must patch and back up the server. Leave if you have a small team and mainly need assignment and notes; stay if your workflow depends on Front's rules and integrations.

Why people look for Front alternatives

Front's Starter plan costs $25 per seat per month billed annually and supports one channel type only: email, Front Chat or SMS. Omnichannel, macros, advanced analytics, SSO and SCIM require Professional at $65, with Enterprise at $105.
