Microsoft Azure alternatives: Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud Free Tier and 3 more. Prices and licenses checked October 22, 2026.

Verdict:Azure's free account gives new customers 12 months of select free services and 65-plus always-free services; free-trial users must switch to pay as you go within 30 days to keep receiving them. The pricing is pay-as-you-go, with no single entry price, which makes comparison hard. Most people who search for an Azure alternative are either escaping bill complexity or picking a cloud for a small project. For a like-for-like replacement with a broad catalog, AWS is the main choice and includes up to $200 in credits on its free plan, though they expire within 6 months. Google Cloud is the pick for data and container work. If you just need a server, Oracle Cloud's Always Free tier gives real VMs at no cost, with the caveat that idle instances can be reclaimed. For paid, simpler VMs, Hetzner Cloud starts at 6.49 EUR a month, DigitalOcean at $4 and Akamai Linode at $5. The trade-off is managed services and integration: Azure ties into Entra ID, Microsoft 365 and .NET tooling in a way the small providers do not, and you must replace databases, queues and monitoring yourself on a plain VM host. Stay on Azure if your company already runs on Microsoft identity. Move a small, self-contained app to a VM host first, as a low-risk test. We did not test migrations here.

Azure's free account is time-boxed: 12 months of select services for new customers who have never held an Azure account, and trial users must move to pay as you go within 30 days to keep receiving them.
